Opening your peptide vial

Two cap types ship with research peptides. Identify yours first, then follow the steps.

Flip-off cap

Plastic cap with a triangle indent

  1. 1Look at the top of the cap — if you see a small raised triangle (▲) or notch, that's a flip-tab.
  2. 2Place your thumbnail under the triangle and lift firmly upward. The plastic tab snaps off.
  3. 3A thin aluminum disk stays behind. Push the disk sideways with your thumb until it peels away.
  4. 4Expose the rubber stopper. Wipe with an alcohol swab and let dry for 10 seconds before piercing.
Don't pry with a knife — slipping ruins the rubber stopper and contaminates the vial.
Twist-off cap

Threaded plastic cap, no indent

  1. 1If the cap is smooth and has no triangle, grip it firmly and twist counter-clockwise — it unscrews by hand.
  2. 2Some vials have a slight 'click' as the plastic tamper-seal breaks. That's normal.
  3. 3Set the cap aside (you can re-cap between draws to keep the stopper clean).
  4. 4Swab the rubber stopper with isopropyl alcohol before inserting the needle.
If the cap won't budge, it's likely a flip-top — look again for the triangle tab.

After the cap is off

  1. 1
    Swab

    Alcohol-swab the rubber stopper. Air-dry 10 sec — don't blow on it.

  2. 2
    Inject BAC water slowly

Aim the needle at the inside wall, not directly at the powder. Slow stream prevents foaming.

  3. 3
    Swirl, don't shake

Gently swirl until the powder fully dissolves. Shaking can denature the peptide.
